On behalf of the South Asian Academy of Ophthalmology (SAO), I am honored to welcome you all to the 40^th Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Congress. To friends from all over the Asia-Pacific and across the world, I extend a warm greeting as you join us in the dynamic city of New Delhi.

This year marks a significant milestone as the APAO Congress introduces its first-ever academic partner. The SAO feels deeply privileged to assume this role. This unprecedented collaboration opens a new avenue for exchanging professional and scientific knowledge. By working together, we strive to advance the field of ophthalmology and, most importantly, improve patient care across our diverse regions.

Born from the vision of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), the SAO embodies the spirit of unity in diversity. Spanning from the world's highest mountains to the smallest island nation, our partnership reflects the rich tapestry of cultures, environments, and medical practices across Asia and the Pacific.

As we gather for this congress, we are not only sharing knowledge, but also building bridges between different healthcare systems, practice guidelines, and clinical approaches. Our collective expertise will certainly contribute to bringing peace, progress, and prosperity to our entire region through improved eye health.
