Congress Highlights: Award Lectures 1 & 2

  Issue 9 - December 2025

As we announced last month, four distinguished ophthalmologists will be honored with APAO Named Awards 2026 at the upcoming Congress.

We are delighted to unveil the topics and abstracts of two highly anticipated award lectures, to be delivered by Prof. Jorge L. ALIO and Prof. Haotian LIN:

Refractive lensectomy is today a frequently used surgical technique to correct ametropia in the middle-aged person. Described for the first time in the late 19th century, it has not been until recently that improved knowledge of the evolution of the crystalline lens with the emerging concept of dysfunctional lens syndrome and the possibility to upgrade the human eye diopter with the use of special lenses…

In light of rapid advancements in mobile health (mHealth) technologies within ophthalmology, there arises an urgent need for a comprehensive review of their development and applications. This presentation outlines a series of smartphone-based ophthalmic disease self-screening systems developed at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University….

All delegates are welcome to attend the award lectures and listen to their expert insights.
Stay tuned for the next issue of our Congress Newsletter, where we will spotlight the award lectures by Prof. Dennis S. C. LAM and Prof. Ke YAO!
