The Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan (OSP) was born on December 19, 1957, in Lahore. The main aim of the society is to develop the science and art of ophthalmology throughout the country. Since its inception, the society’s leaders have endeavored to support programs which would improve the knowledge and skills of ophthalmologists to provide better patient care and management.
The OSP has grown from a handful of founding members to 2,000 qualified ophthalmologists. It has 13 branches covering all regions of the country and six subspecialty associations: Vitreo Retina, Oculoplasty, Glaucoma, Paediatric Ophthalmology, Cataract and Refractive Surgery and Community Ophthalmology Associations. The society runs regular clinical meetings, workshops, congresses, hands-on wet labs, skills labs, and more in all parts of the country.
