16th Asia-Pacific Eye Care Week

The Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) is pleased to announce the 16th Asia-Pacific Eye Care Week, which will take place from October 5–11, 2026, in conjunction with World Sight Day on October 8, 2026.

2026 Co-Organizing Subspecialty Societies

This year, the APAO Public Education Standing Committee has invited two subspecialty member societies to co-organize the Eye Care Week:

Asia-Pacific Society of Ocular Oncology & Pathology (APSOOP) – Leukocoria
Asia Pacific Tele-Ophthalmology Society (APTOS) – Check Your Vision in 3 Minutes: WHOeyes Public Vision Experience

Both societies are preparing a comprehensive set of educational materials (media kits) to support public education and outreach across the Asia-Pacific region.

Get Involved

All APAO national member societies are warmly invited to participate in the 16th Asia-Pacific Eye Care Week by organizing public educational activities and community outreach services in their respective countries or communities.

Societies are encouraged to make use of the media kits provided and, where appropriate, translate and localize the materials to communicate effectively with their local audiences.

After the conclusion of your Eye Care Week activities, please share your highlights, including photos and/or videos, through the Activity Report Form link provided.

Asia-Pacific Eye Care Week Prizes

We are delighted to continue the Asia-Pacific Eye Care Week Prizes, introduced in 2024, to recognize outstanding efforts by APAO national member societies in public education and community outreach.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

Prize	Judging Criterion	Participation Requirements
Best Public Educational Prize	Number of members of the public reached through the educational event	Activity must align with one of the APAO themes of the year (Leukocoria; Check Your Vision in 3 Minutes: WHOeyes Public Vision Experience). The APAO Eye Care Week banner must be visibly used during the activity.
Best Public Eye Screening Prize	Number of members of the public who receive eye screening services	The APAO Eye Care Week banner must be visibly used during the activity.

All APAO national member societies that submit their activity report by the deadline will be automatically considered for the prizes.

Submission Form and Deadline

Please complete the Activity Report Form (the link will be provided to APAO national member societies via email), which includes a Declaration Form, and submit the required information and documents by Monday, November 30, 2026.

Recognition

Following endorsement by the APAO Council, the winners will be announced and recognized at the APAO 2027 Congress in Singapore.

Please note that if no participating societies meet the judging criteria and participation requirements, no awards may be presented.

Showcase of Activities

Even if you are not participating in the prize competition, we warmly encourage all APAO national member societies to share their Eye Care Week highlights through the same Activity Report Form.

Submitted activities may be featured on the Asia-Pacific Eye Care Week website, showcasing the collective efforts of APAO member societies to advance public awareness of eye health across the region.

APAO looks forward to the active participation of its national member societies and to highlighting their collective impact during the 16th Asia-Pacific Eye Care Week.
